Road accident statistics go ‘Peach-shaped’
JULIAN SIEBER
Dangerous and unusual items being left on WA roads have caused a surge in road accidents, according to Road Safety Council WA member Don Key-Kong.
“More and more accidents on the road are the result of items either being left on the road or projected between drivers”, said Mr Key-Kong.
Over 140 drivers have crashed intro trees, poles or other cars after spinning out of control by slipping on wayward banana peels.
“More disturbingly, large green, red and even spiky blue turtle shells have been discovered amongst the wreckage of exploded vehicles.
“Mushrooms have also fatally caused drivers to lose control while others have been inexplicably struck by lightning.
“Also, about 90% of related head-on-collisions have occurred between regular vehicles and bowsers.
“The best advice we can give to drivers is to install car safety features such as invincibility stars, spinning red shells or an easier difficulty level.”
